History of the West Central Human Service Center

The  Central Human Service Center has a long and rich history. This center was originally opened in 1959 as the Southwest Human Service Center. It was renamed the  Central Human Service Center in 1997 after merging with another human service center located in west central Illinois. The  Central Human Service Center serves a population of over 40,000 residents and employs over 130 workers. The primary focus of this center is to provide human services to low-income individuals and families. Services provided include case management, assistance with food stamps and other government benefits, unemployment benefits, medical assistance, housing assistance, and more.
